Primal by J.L. Quick is a forbidden, age-gap, Irish mob mafia romance between an unhinged, obsessed MMC & a virgin FMC. After living her whole life as a church-good girl, Catlin has temptation right at her fingertips…in the form of a delicious, unhinged, sinfully good-looking bad boy named Finnigan. She’s pure and innocent, and he wants her. Will she break all her rules for him?
This story is packed with steamy moments, forbidden love, drama, and action. As always please read trigger warnings before! I was really charmed by Finnigan. His character has a way with words and his flirty persona had me kicking my feet. He’s definitely the bad boy that makes Catlin break some rules! I’ll be honest, at first, I didn’t love Catlin right away, but as the story continued I found myself applauding her for making her own decisions. I really enjoyed seeing her break out of her shell.
I love mafia romances and the darkness that comes with that and the way it shows through the MMC. It’s very much touch her and d*e, which I love. There’s also steamy scenes that will warm you up!! Their exploration of kinks had me blushing! You’re in for a treat! The beginning was a good pace for me, the relationships developed quickly, but I do wish we had seen more of a build-up to the action. I felt that it was a bit rushed at the end with the time jumps, which is why I rated it the way I did, but I was still hooked on this story throughout.
Ultimately, I enjoyed this book! Quick really brought to life these amazing characters. I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5. I would recommend this book to those who love bad boys, spicy scenes, and good girls who want to be a little bad! If this sounds like something you like, I recommend you check it out!
